KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - UNC Asheville Women's Swimming and Diving saw two diving records fall on day one of the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday (Feb. 19). After the first day of competition, Asheville sits in fourth with 103 points.

Caitlin Hefner finished 10th in the 500 free in a lifetime-best 4:57.39, while Riley Edmundson took 11th in the 200 IM with a lifetime-best time of 2:02.97. Anna Marcotti finished 10th in the 50 free in a lifetime-best time of 23.39, while Beatrice Cocconcelli finished 16th in 23.95. The 200 medley relay team of Grace Adams, Cox, Quisumbing and Cocconcelli took fifth in 1:43.03. Leigha Travis (230.90) and Jade Canady (222.80) finished seventh and eighth respectively in the one-meter A finals, with Travis posting a lifetime-best score.

Asheville put four swimmers in the finals along with two divers in the A final and two divers in the B final.

Canady (229.30) and Travis (222.95) each qualified for the A final, finishing third and seventh respectively. Ward won the B final in the one-meter dive setting a school record with a lifetime-best score of 249.20, while Fougeron took second in the B final setting a freshman record and lifetime-best score of 244.10. Coughlen also finished 13th (210.20) and Haley Fein finished 14th (204.60).

Hefner paced the Bulldog distance swimmers in the 500 free with a season-best time of 4:58.80 to place ninth and qualify for the B final, while Rose Sciaudone swam a lifetime-best 5:07.12 to finish 18th and Celine Petruschke swam a lifetime-best 5:08.87. Kathryn Walters swam the event in 5:10.59, while Danai Gkogkosi also finished the event in 5:12.52. Edmundson punched her ticket to the B finals in the 200 IM with a lifetime-best time of 2:03.06, while Taylor Smith (2:06.96) and Cox (2:07.60) each swam lifetime-bests in the event. Miriam Wheatley (2:10.90), Tess Peny (2:08.35) and Caroline Crouse (2:06.40) each swam season-bests in the event. Julie Lahiff also posted a lifetime-best 2:04.86 in the time trial of the event, while Anna Kate Halligan (2:08.00), Alessia Cunegatti (2:06.93) and Savanna Bush (2:10.55, time trial) also swam the event. Marcotti (23.60) and Beatrice Cocconcelli (23.83) each qualified for the B final of the 50 free with season-best times, while Quisumbing posted a season-best 23.85 in the event. Chloe McDonald (24.72), Olivia Ciancimino (23.88) and Amelia Presley (24.86) each swam season-best times in the event, while Alyssa Jackson also swam the event in 24.71. In total in the morning prelims, Asheville tallied 10 season-best times and five lifetime-best times.
