CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville guard Jamaria Freeman has been named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week, announced by the league today (Monday, Dec. 8).

Asheville went 1-1 last week, with a 64-58 overtime win over South Carolina State on Wednesday and a 76-61 loss to North Florida on Saturday.Â
Â
Against South Carolina State, Freeman matched her career-high with 16 points, to go along with two rebounds, two assists and one steal. Against North Florida, she had 13 points to go along with matching her career-high with five rebounds, four assists and two steals.

This is Freeman's first career Freshman of the Week honor. The Wilson, N.C. native is a criminal justice major.

The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday (Dec. 11) at East Tennessee State in non-conference action. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. from Johnson City, Tenn. with video, live stats, radio and tickets available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
