Asheville Defeats Truett McConnell 92-54 in Exhibition Contest

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball team opened the 2025-26 campaign in dominant fashion Tuesday night (Oct. 28), rolling past Truett McConnell, 92–54, in a preseason exhibition inside Kimmel Arena.
The Bulldogs controlled the game from the start, jumping out to a double-digit lead midway through the first half and never looking back. Asheville shot 50 percent from the field (28-for-56) and scored 42 points in the paint while holding the Bears to a 28.6% shooting night and 22 points in the paint.
Kameron Taylor paced the Bulldogs with a team-high 19 points to go with five assists and two rebounds, both offensive. Toyaz Solomon posted a 16-point, 13-rebound double-double and added four assists and two blocks. DJ Patrick knocked down four threes en route to 16 points, and freshman Myles Mayfield grabbed nine rebounds and scored seven points.
Asheville's Leaders Off the Bench:
- Mitchell Taylor: 9 pts (7-8 FT), 5 rbs, 2 asts
- Daniel Thomas: 7 pts, 6 rbs
Asheville dominated on the glass, with a 54–24 rebounding advantage. This included 15 offensive boards that led to 20 second-chance points. The Bulldogs also forced 19 turnovers and turned them into 21 points.
In total, 11 Bulldogs found the scoring column.
The Bulldogs will officially open the regular season next week when they travel to Wichita State on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
