Women's Swimming and Diving Leads Campbell, Trails Liberty After Friday Action

LYNCHBURG, Va. - UNC Asheville Women's Swimming and Diving leads Campbell 151-32 after Friday's (Jan. 31) action, while also trailing host Liberty 100-86.

Asheville was able to start the event picking up key points on both teams in the 4x100 medley relay, with the team of Grace Adams, Beatrice Cocconcelli, Riley Edmundson and Anna Marcotti posting a time of 3:48.82 for 11 points over Campbell and four points against Liberty. Caitlin Hefner would pace the Bulldogs for 11 points with a win in the 500 free in 5:00.70, as Asheville collected 11 points against Liberty and Campbell, while Rose Sciaudone swam the event in 5:09.60 for one point against Liberty and three points against Campbell. Kathryn Walters (5:19.47) and Danai Gkogkosi (5:20.20) each picked up points against Campbell in the event. Asheville would go on to pick up huge points against both teams, with Edmundson winning the 100 breast for nine points while Gracelyn Cox finished close behind in 1:05.95 for four points against both opponents. Miriam Wheatley scored two points against both opponents with a finish in 1:06.66, while Taylor Smith (1:07.54) earned one point against Campbell.

Asheville picked up key points in the 50 free, with Cocconcelli (24.00), Marcotti (24.01) and Olivia Ciancimino (24.14) combining for six points against Liberty and 16 points against Campbell. Caroline Crouse (24.52) also picked up two points against Campbell in the event. The Bulldogs were able to pick up six points against Liberty in three-meter diving, with Amelia Ward earning three points with a score of 220.95, Jade Canady (217.15) picking up two points and Vivian Fougeron (215.75) picking up one point. The Bulldogs then picked up nine key points against Liberty and 18 points against Campbell in the 400 IM, paced by Julie Lahiff (4:30.65), Anna Kate Halligan (4:31.10) and Alessia Cunegatti (4:32.85). Sciaudone (4:37.18) also picked up two points against Campbell in the event. Marcotti picked up nine key points for the Bulldogs with a win in the 200 free in 1:51.65, while Hefner (1:53.35) and Crouse (1:53.48) also earned points for Asheville in the event. Adams picked up huge points in the 100 back in 57.75, while Bush also earned points for Asheville in 1:00.08. Edmundson (2:02.97) and Chloe McDonald (2:05.08) went on to pick up points for the Bulldogs in the 200 fly to close out the day.
