Jalen Anderson Earns First Career Big South Track Athlete of the Week Honor

BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE RELEASE

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Senior Jalen Anderson of the UNC Asheville track and field team has earned Big South Runner of the Week honors following his performance at the Gamecock Opener this past Saturday (Jan. 11). The league made the announcement on Thursday (Jan. 16). 

Anderson earned a sixth-place finish in the 200 with a time of 21.29, just .09 behind his school record time of 21.20. He also competed in the prelims of the 60m dash, where he ran a 7.04 and finished 24th in the prelims. 

Anderson is the first track athlete in the program to earn the weekly honor during indoor season since Nick Teta earned the honor in 2019.

Anderson and the Bulldogs are back in action this weekend (Jan. 17-18) as Asheville competes in the Virginia Tech Invitational.
