09.25.2024 | Women's Swimming & Diving
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Swimming and Diving has released its 2024-25 schedule today (Wednesday, Sept. 25), for the program's 13th season under head coach Elizabeth Lykins and second season in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
The team's intrasquad alumni meet was held Sept. 13-14 at the Justice Center, while the divers will head to Davidson on Sept. 28. The Bulldogs host Gardner-Webb in ASUN action on Oct. 12, before traveling to Davidson for a tri-meet with VMI on Oct. 26. Asheville returns home to host Campbell and UNC Pembroke on Nov. 2, before the divers head to the Tennessee Invite (Nov. 20-22) and the swimmers head to the Fall Frenzy Invitational (Nov. 21-24). The month of December begins with a tri-meet at Georgia Southern featuring East Carolina, before the distance crew takes on the CSCAA Open Water 5K on Dec. 15. The last event of 2024 is a quad meet at Florida Gulf Coast on Dec. 19 featuring Tulane and Indiana State. Asheville will host VMI for diving Senior Day on Jan. 10, before hosting Berry for swimming Senior Day on Jan. 11. Asheville's final ASUN event of the regular season is a tri-meet at Liberty along with Campbell Jan. 31-Feb. 1. The ASUN Conference Championships take place Feb. 19-22 in Knoxville, Tenn. while the NCAA Division I National Championships are Mar. 19-22 in Federal Way, Wash.
"The team and staff are looking forward to a competitive season in the pool and on the boards," said Lykins. "We are excited to kick off the schedule with a Diving only competition on September 28 against Davidson College. As we make our way through the first half of the season, we will face two formidable conference opponents in Gardner-Webb and Campbell. Our fall culminates at separate mid-season invitationals for Diving in Knoxville, Tenn. and Swimming in Charlotte, N.C. The winter break will feature five opposing teams, an open water 5k and a Florida training trip. While the New Year only showcases two dual meets, we will celebrate Senior Day on Jan 10-11, 2025 as we prepare for ASUN conference championships in mid-February. It will be a challenging schedule, but one the staff and team are excited to tackle."
