Four Bulldogs Earn Big South Conference All-Conference Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Four UNC Asheville Baseball players have earned All-Big South Conference honors, announced by the conference today (Wednesday, May 22).
Robbie Burnett was named to the All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive year, becoming the first repeat First Team All-Conference selection for Asheville since Baltimore Orioles prospect Dominic Freeberger '22. Ty Kaufman earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team, while Colby Guy was named All-Conference Honorable Mention and Cole Schiff was named to the All-Academic Team.
After playing and starting in all 50 games in 2024, Burnett finished his junior season second on the team and 16th in the league in batting average with a mark of .323. He also finished second in the league in home runs, one off UNC Asheville's single season record with 18. Burnett was also fifth in the Big South in slugging percentage (.656), seventh in on-base percentage (.454), fourth in on-base plus slugging (OPS, 1.110) and eighth in runs batted in with 45. Prior to the start of the season, Burnett was also named to the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award Watch List.
This is Burnett's third career All-Conference honor. The Franklinton, N.C. native is a management major.
Kaufman played and started in 49 games this season, finishing as the team's leader and 10th in the league in batting average (.332) while also being tied for 14th in the league in hits with 62 including surpassing the 200-hit mark for his college career. Kaufman led the team on the base paths, while also finishing third in the league and second on the single-season all-time list with 23 bags. Defensively, Kaufman finished second in the league in assists with 152.
This is Kaufman's first career All-Conference honor. The McDonough, Ga. native graduated from UNC Asheville with a bachelor's degree in health and wellness promotion with a minor in management.
Guy appeared in 14 games in his first season in Asheville, making 13 starts. Along with a 7-4 record, Guy finished eighth in the league in earned run average (4.35), sixth in the league in batting average against (.250), sixth in the league in innings pitched (70.1) and eighth in the league in strikeouts (68). Guy was also named the Big South Conference Starting Pitcher of the week on Apr. 23, 2024.
This is Guy's first career All-Conference honor. The Chester, S.C. native is a health and wellness promotion major.
Schiff earns his first career spot on the All-Academic Team posting a 3.95 grade point average in health and wellness promotion. Schiff went 3-2 on the season through 15 appearances and 12 starts totaling 61.0 innings pitched. Schiff finished with 53 strikeouts on the season.
Schiff is a native of Wake Forest, N.C.
