Jon Brann Reid, Serra Brothers Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Recent UNC Asheville Men's Tennis graduates Jon Brann Reid, Bruno Serra and Rafa Serra have earned Academic All-District® honors from College Sports Communicators, announced by the organization today (Tuesday, May 14). The trio repeats the honor for the second straight year.
To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically, maintain a cumulative 3.5 grade point average and also play in 70 percent of team contests that include team scores.
Reid went 16-5 in singles play on the season, including 14-4 at No. 3, 2-1 at No. 2 and 3-1 in conference play. He and Rafa Serra went 11-5 on the season at No. 1 doubles, earning First Team All-Conference honors. Reid was also named the Big South Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year as well as to the All-Academic Team, with a 4.0 grade point average in health and wellness promotion.
This is Reid's second career Academic All-District® honor. The Hickory, N.C. native graduated from UNC Asheville last Saturday.
Bruno Serra went 13-6 in singles play, including 8-1 at No. 5, three wins at No. 4 and two wins at No. 6. He went 8-6 in doubles play with Cian Ingles to earn Second Team All-Conference honors in doubles play, going 3-0 in league play. He also went 4-3 in doubles play with Tarek Erlewein with two wins each at No. 2 and No. 3. He finished his undergraduate career with a 3.99 grade point average in biology with a double minor in Spanish and neuroscience.
This is Serra's second career Academic All-District® honor. The Burlington, N.C. native graduated from UNC Asheville last Saturday.
Rafa Serra went 11-7 in singles play including 3-1 in conference with nine wins at No. 6 and two wins at No. 5. He and Reid went 11-5 on the season at No. 1 doubles, earning First Team All-Conference honors. He finished his undergraduate career with a 3.99 grade point average in biology with a double minor in Spanish and neuroscience.
