Freddy Murray Named Big South Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week

FULL BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE RELEASE
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville sophomore Freddy Murray has been named the Big South Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, announced by the league today (Wednesday, Apr. 3).
Asheville improved to 12-5 overall and 2-0 in the Big South with a 7-0 win over Belmont Abbey on Wednesday (Mar. 27) and a 6-1 win at Radford on Saturday (Mar. 30). Murray earned the first win of the match with Sam Nicholson at No. 3 doubles by a score of 6-1, along with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. In the match against Radford, Murray clinched the doubles point with Sam Nicholson with a 6-4 win at No. 3 before clinching the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles.
This is Murray's second career Player of the Week Honor. He is a native of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The Bulldogs (12-5, 2-0 Big South Conference) return to action on Friday (Apr. 5) to host Gardner-Webb for Senior Day. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
