Millie Brown, Jaila Lee Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. - UNC Asheville women's basketball players Millie Brown and Jaila Lee have earned Academic All-District® honors from College Sports Communicators, announced by the organization today (Tuesday, Mar. 19). The pair become the first Academic All-District® selections for the program since Brooke Jordan-Brown in 2020.

To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically, maintain a cumulative 3.5 grade point average and also either appear in 90 percent of their team's contests or start in at least 66 percent of contests.

Brown appeared in 31 games as a sophomore, making her first career start against Warren Wilson on Dec. 6. She averaged 2.6 points per game, while tying her career-high with nine points against Warren Wilson (Dec. 6). She notched a career-high four assists against Tennessee State (Nov. 12) and tied her career-high with two steals twice this season against Warren Wilson (Dec. 6) and Brevard (Dec. 29). Brown also tied her career-high in field goals made (three) against Warren Wilson, while tying her career-high in field goal attempts (seven) twice this season against Warren Wilson and Brevard. Millie also tied her career-high with three three-pointers against Warren Wilson, along with tying her career-high in three-pointers attempted (seven) against Warren Wilson and Brevard. She was also named to the Big South Conference All-Academic Team. She holds a 3.93 grade point average in health and wellness promotion with a minor in psychology.

This is Brown's first career Academic All-District® selection. She is a native of Nashville, Tenn.

Lee played and started in all 31 games in her first season in Asheville, averaging 7.9 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game while also totaling a team-high 35 steals. She scored a career-high 17 points against Brevard (Dec. 29), while pulling down a career-high 10 rebounds at High Point (Feb. 7). She also recorded a career-high two blocks against Longwood (Feb. 21), while making a career-high eight field goals against Brevard (Dec. 29). Lee attempted a career-high 17 field goals against Radford (Jan. 24), while tying her career-high for three-point attempts at Radford. She holds a 3.50 grade point average in mass communications.

This is Lee's first career Academic All-District selection. She is a native of Brentwood, Tenn.
