ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Tennis opened Big South Conference play with a 5-2 victory over Longwood on Saturday (Mar. 16) at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
Asheville swept doubles play for the doubles point, before winning four out of six singles matches for the victory.
Cian Ingles and Bruno Serrai beat Petar Belosevic and Alejandro Uribe 6-2 at No. 2, before Sam Nicholson and Freddy Murray beat Luis Reis and Seva Rusin 6-3 at No. 3 to clinch the doubles point. Sam Nicholson got Asheville on the board in singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Timeo Puech at No. 2, before Jon Brann Reid beat Belosevic 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3. Murray beat Freddy Hernandez 7-6, 6-2 at No. 1, before Rafa Serra beat Reis 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 6 to close out the match.
