Three UNC Asheville Volleyball Players Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Honors

FULL COLLEGE SPORTS COMMUNICATORS RELEASE

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Three UNC Asheville Volleyball players have earned Academic All-District® honors from College Sports Communicators, announced today (Tuesday, Dec. 17) by the organization.

Junior right side hitter Avery Loeback, senior libero Michelle Thao and redshirt sophomore outside hitter Kylie Cackovic each earned Academic All-District honors for the first time in their careers. To qualify for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must:

Must be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically
Maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA
Appear in 90% of their team's competitions or start in 66 percent of competitions

Loeback played in all 23 matches this season, appearing in 74 sets with six starts. She posted 101 kills, three assists, 36 digs, five solo blocks and 21 block assists. Loeback also holds a 3.70 grade point average in psychology.

This is her first career Academic All-District honor. She is a native of Raleigh, N.C.

Thao appeared in all 23 matches playing in 90 sets, registering six kills, 90 assists, 31 service aces and 440 digs. She was named Big South Conference Co-Libero of the Week on Oct. 14. She also holds a 3.53 grade point average in business.

This is Thao's first career Academic All-District honor. She is a native of Hickory, N.C.

Cackovic appeared in all 23 matches and 90 sets this season, making 23 starts. She finished the season with 297 kills, 16 assists, 21 service aces, 240 digs, five solo blocks and 12 block assists. She was named Big South Conference Co-Player of the Week on Oct. 28, and also named a First Team All-Conference selection. She holds a 3.59 grade point average in psychology.

This is her first career Academic All-District honor. She is a native of Raleigh, N.C.
