Women's Swimming and Diving Ready for Several Upcoming Events

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Swimming and Diving readies for several upcoming events in the next week and a half.

UNC Asheville (1-1) vs. Georgia Southern and East Carolina

Dec. 13 | Statesboro, Ga. | 2:00 p.m.

About the Bulldogs - Asheville is 1-1 in dual competitions on the season with a 251-42 win over VMI and a 175-125 loss to Davidson. Asheville returns 19 swimmers and also adds four freshmen. Asheville returns its entire diving squad from a season ago. Jade Canady and Morgan Coughlen who each received Atlantic Sun Conference Diver of the Week honors last season, along with the addition of freshman Vivian Fougeron who has also earned one ASUN Diver of the Week honor so far this season.

About Georgia Southern - This will be Georgia Southern's first dual of the season for the swimmers. The Eagles put together a seventh-place finish in their last competition at South Carolina's Gamecock Invitational Nov. 20-22.Â

About East Carolina - The Pirates are 5-1 in dual meets on the season, splitting their last tri-meet of the season with a 204-95 win over Richmond and a 169-130 loss to Penn.

From Head Coach Elizabeth Lykins - "As we wrap up the first semester, we are excited to have another set of dual meets to compete, practice race strategies and execute new dives. Both Georgia Southern and East Carolina are formidable opponents and are sure to test our limits, but we look forward to facing the challenge." Â

About the Bulldogs - Grace Adams, Caitlin Hefner, Celine Petruschke, Rose Sciaudone and Kathryn Walters will be competing in the distance race for the Bulldogs.

From Head Coach Elizabeth Lykins - "These five ladies have been working extremely hard to prepare for the Open Water 5k. The race will be well attended with more than 100 women participating from universities across the country. The competition will be stiff, but our commitment to preparation will allow our five participants to be successful in their endeavors."

About Florida International - Florida International enters the competition at 2-2 in duals, with their last competition being a second-place finish at the Purdue Invitational. Â

About Marshall - Marshall enters the competition at 2-1 in duals, with their last competition being at IUPUI's House of Champions (Nov. 21-23). Marshall won the event with 323.5 points in the 13-team event.
From Diving Coach Matthew Macon - "After a great mid-season meet, we are ready to finish the fall season strong. We have never had 3 meets in the same week and it will be a push to stay focused and maintain that competition mindset. Diving against great teams full of conference champions and NCAA qualifiers is a great experience for our divers and will help us prepare for the upcoming championship season."
