Toyaz Solomon Named Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the first time in his Bulldog career, UNC Asheville senior Toyaz Solomon has been named the Big South Conference Player of the Week. The league made the announcement on Monday (Nov. 25). 

Solomon averaged 17.3 points in 37.4 minutes and 11 rebounds in three games this past week. On Monday against North Florida (Nov. 18), Solomon had a career-high 20 points, going 10-16 from the field with seven boards. Against SEMO on Friday (Nov. 22), he recorded his first double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds and became the first Bulldog this season to record double-digit boards. Solomon turned in another double-double against Central Arkansas on Sunday (Nov. 24) with 15 points and 15 rebounds, with eight boards being offensive. 

Through five games this season, Solomon is shooting .574 from the field, averaging 15.4 points per game, and having a team-high of 8.8 rebounds per game and six blocks. 

Solomon and the Bulldogs are back on the court on Sunday, Dec. 1, as they take on Tennessee State in Nashville at 2 p.m. ET.
