Women's Swimming and Diving Wraps Up Fall Frenzy on Sunday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Swimming and Diving wrapped up the Queens Fall Frenzy on Sunday (Nov. 24).

Caitlin Hefner paced the Bulldogs with a fifth-place finish in a season-best 17:00.55 in the mile (1650), while Kathryn Walters (17:43.95), Grace Adams (17:46.30) and Celine Petruschke (17:49.79) finished 22nd, 23rd and 24th respectively with season-best marks. Rose Sciaudone also finished 29th in the event with a season-best time of 18:12.40. Adams finished 24th in the 200 back in 2:09.42, while Alessia Cunegatti finished 30th in a season-best time of 2:06.49. Anna Marcotti would finish 26th in the 100 free in a season-best time of 51.72 seconds, while Beatrice Cocconcelli finished 14th in a season-best time of 2:20.65 in the 200 breast. Alyssa Jackson finished 18th in the event in a season-best 2:21.00, while Julie Lahiff (2:22.47) and Anna Kate Halligan (2:22.76) finished 21st and 23rd respectively. Gracelyn Cox finished 25th in 2:21.37, while Miriam Wheatley finished 31st in 2:26.80. Riley Edmundson took second in the 200 fly in a season-best time of 2:02.08, while Tess Peny took 28th in a season-best time of 2:09.87. The A team of Cocconcelli, Caroline Crouse, Ava Kilpatrick and Marcotti took seventh in the 400 free relay in a season-best time of 3:27.23 with Cocconcelli recording a lifetime-best split of 51.09 seconds. The B team of Cunegatti, Jackson, Taylor Smith and Hefner finished 21st in a season-best time of 3:34.57. Throughout the finals, Asheville totaled 15 season-best marks and one lifetime-best time.

Adams locked up a spot in the C finals of the 200 back finishing 18th with a season-best time of 2:04.82, while Cunegatti earned a spot in the D final with a season-best time of 2:07.53. Savanna Bush (2:10.35), Tess Peny (2:13.69) and Andie Quisumbing (2:09.07) each also logged season-best times in the event. Marcotti earned a spot in the D final of the 100 free in a season-best 52.21 seconds, while Wheatley (54.50), Celine Petruschke (55.08), Taylor Smith (54.04), Ava Kilpatrick (53.58) and Danai Gkogkosi (54.04) each recorded season-best times in the event. Olivia Ciancimino also swam the event in 55.27. Cocconcelli earned a spot in the B final of the 200 breast with a 15th-place finish in a season-best 2:21.45, while Lahiff and Halligan finished in a tie for 21st in a season-best 2:22.97 to earn spots in the C final. Jackson also made the C final with a 24th-place finish in a season-best 2:23.49, while Cox (2:25.63) and Wheatley (2:26.05) each recorded season-best times to qualify for the D final. Edmundson posted a third-place finish to qualify for the A final in the 200 fly in a season-best time of 2:02.75, while McDonald (2:09.87) and Crouse (2:10.52) each posted season-best times to qualify for the D final in the event. Peny (2:11.57) and Lahiff 2:11.31) each also recorded season-best times in the event. Asheville totaled 19 season-best times through the prelims.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Dec. 13 for a tri-meet hosted by Georgia Southern, where the Bulldogs will also take on East Carolina. The action is set for a 4:00 p.m. start from Statesboro, Ga. Â
