Fougeron Takes 10th at Tennessee Invitational, Swimming Opens Competition at the Fall Frenzy

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Swimming and Diving competed at a pair of events on Thursday (Nov. 21), with the divers completing day two of the Tennessee invitational in Knoxville and the swimmers competing at the Fall Frenzy at Queens University of Charlotte.

Vivan Fougeron finished 10th in the prelims of the 1M to qualify for the finals with a score of 219.35, while Jade Canady narrowly missed the finals finishing 13th with a score of 205.50. Amelia Ward finished 15th with a score of 191.15, while Leigha Travis finished 17th at 180.55 and Kindal Culpepper took 18th with a mark of 169.00. Fougeron held her position in 10th in the finals with a score of 204.00.

"We had another strong showing from our divers competing against several NCAA qualifiers," said diving coach Matthew Macon. "We are having a great meet and looking forward to finishing up in the platform event tomorrow."

At the Fall Frenzy, the A squad of Caroline Crouse, Caitlin Hefner, Beatrice Cocconcelli and Anna Marcotti took sixth in the 4x800 free relay in 7:27.96. The B squad of Alessia Cunegatti, Celine Petruschke, Danai Gkogkosi and Ava Kilpatrick finished 16th in 7:41.65.

"The 800 free relay went well today," said head coach Elizabeth Lykins. "It's the fastest 800 relay the program has ever swum at a midseason invite."

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow (Friday, Nov. 22) to resume both events. Diving begins at 12:00 p.m. with the preliminaries stream available here and the finals available here. Video and tickets for swimming are both available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
