ROCK HILL, S.C. -Â Freddy Murray advanced to the quarterfinals of singles play as UNC Asheville Men's Tennis completed the first day at the Big South Conference Individual Championships on Friday (Oct. 25).

Murray, the No. 2 seed, defeated 15-seed Mauricio Gonzalez Paiva of Longwood 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) to set up tomorrow's matchup with 7-seed David Mamalat of Presbyterian 10:30 a.m.

12-seed Sai Gandepalli dropped a hard-fought 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 match to 3-seed Alex Lepine of Gardner-Webb, while 5-seed Olle Sonesson Lindholt and Cian Ingles fell 8-7 (7-5) in doubles to 4-seed Pedro Cardoso and Daksh Prasad of Presbyterian.

Ingles and Lindholt return to action tomorrow in the consolation round to face Peter Belosevic and Marko Mrdak of Longwood at 9:00 a.m. Gandepalli returns to action tomorrow in the consolation round against Cardoso at 12:00 p.m.Â
