Cross Country Returns to Course for Upstate Invite

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville cross country team returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 29) as the Bulldogs compete in the Upstate Invite, hosted by USC Upstate.
The women's 5k race will commence at 9:00 a.m., followed by the men's 8k race at 9:45 a.m. Saturday will be the final race of the regular season for Asheville, ahead of the Big South Conference Championships on Nov. 1. Nineteen Bulldogs are set to compete, with three Bulldogs opening their seasons on Saturday.
The Bulldogs return to the rolling terrain of Spartanburg after a successful outing at last year's Invitational. The men finished second as a team, and between both teams, the Bulldogs had two top-ten finishes from Adam Hessler (7th, 24:30.0) and Isabel Richardson (7th, 17:23.9) highlighted the event.
Asheville last competed at the Brevard XC Classic (Sept. 20), where both the men and women earned second-place finishes. Sophomore Zoe Bos led the women with a 10th-place finish and personal best time of 19:30.7. On the men's side, sophomore Nate Sullivan was first to finish for Asheville. He crossed the line in 17th place with his time of 26:47.8, closely followed by Tadiyos Sloan-Westmoreland in 19th place (27:17.7).
