Bulldogs Blank Longwood for Road Conference Win

FARMVILLE, Va. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer blanked Longwood 1-0 for a Big South Conference road win on Saturday (Sept. 30).
The teams went back and forth for most of the first half, before Benian Yao broke through off an assist from Stewart Patnaud for his first goal in an Asheville uniform in the 35th minute.
Asheville would take a 1-0 lead to the break.
Asheville would hold Longwood to six shots in the second half to come away with the victory.
Asheville out-shot Longwood 17-10 in the match, including 5-4 in shots on frame. Seth Hammond paced the Bulldogs with four shots in the match, tying his career-high. Sam Pitts-Eckersall posted three shots in the match, while Conor Behan and Patnaud each had two. Brendan Herb, Yao, Viðar Ragnarsson, Aidan Whitlock, Aysa Hamid and Evan Lupo also each registered one shot in the match. Charlie Farrar (6-3-1) recorded four saves in his third shutout of the season, the 11th of his career.
