Women's Basketball Inks Transfer Briauna Thompson for 2023-24

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Basketball has announced the signing of transfer Briauna Thompson for the 2023-24 season, announced today (Wednesday, June 7) by head coach Honey Brown. Â
"Bri brings experience and maturity to our team but most importantly size and depth in the post for us this season," said Coach Brown. "She has been a proven rebounder and shot blocker which will be very valuable to our team. Bri has battled some adversity which I know will drive her desire to do great things as a Bulldog. We're excited to get started with her this summer."
Thompson played one season at South Carolina State after transferring from Meridian Community College. In 2021-22 at South Carolina State, she appeared in 25 games making 13 starts, averaging 2.5 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game.
The Montgomery, Ala. native graduated from South Carolina State with a bachelor's degree in family and consumer science.
She played her high school basketball at Brewbaker Technical Magnet High School, where she pulled down a school record 1,000 career rebounds. As a senior, she averaged 12.5 rebounds and 6.1 blocks per game.
