FULL AWARD WATCH LIST
LUBBOCK, Texas – UNC Asheville baseball player Kohl Abrams was recently named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List. The award honors the nation's top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year.
"To be named to Brooks Wallace Watch List is a great honor and achievement for Kohl," said UNC Asheville Head Baseball Coach Scott Friedholm. "He has worked very hard at his craft and it has been paying off for him all season. I think this will only motivate Kohl to work even harder over the next two seasons to become the very best version of himself, on and off the field."
Abrams has been a key player for Asheville in 2023 as he is one of three players to start and play in all 40 games for the team so far this season. The Cary, N.C. native is hitting .333 with two home runs, and 20 RBI this season. Abrams, who also has 15 multi-hit efforts in 2023, has also scored 39 runs, stole five bases, and has an on-base percentage of .448.
Abrams and the rest of the Bulldogs will return to the field on May 3 when they visit longtime rival Western Carolina for a non-conference contest. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. on ESPN+.
