ASHEVILLE, N.C. -Â UNC Asheville women's basketball has added junior transfer Laimani Simmons to its 2023-24 signing class, announced today (Tuesday, Apr. 25) by head coach Honey Brown.
"We're excited to have Laimani join our team," said Coach Brown. "I have known Laimani for several years since she was a player I recruited out of high school and she also attended our camps. I have watched her skill set evolve and get better over time. She brings an ability to create shots at the rim and has a very good midrange game. Laimani will be a huge asset defensively with her ability to guard and disrupt players with her athleticism. We're all looking forward to having her start workouts with us this summer."
Last season at High Point, also a member of the Big South Conference, Simmons averaged 9.4 minutes per game, 4.4 points per game and also shot 46.2 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three-point range last season as a sophomore. She played in 55 games in three seasons at High Point.
The Greenville, S.C. native attended Legacy Early College, where she was Regional Player of the Year as well as an All-State selection.Â
