Men’s Basketball Adds NC State Transfer Greg Gantt

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Head Men's Basketball Coach Mike Morrell announced the signing of Greg Gantt on Tuesday. Gantt, a native of Fayetteville, N.C., comes to the Bulldogs after spending the past two seasons as a member of the NC State men's basketball program.
"We are thrilled to welcome Greg to our program," said Morrell. "He brings a wealth of collegiate experience in the Big East and ACC. Bulldog fans will enjoy the energy he plays with and the winning attributes he possesses."
In his lone season of playing for the Wolfpack, Gantt appeared in 22 games and started 17 of those contests. He scored 43 points, grabbed 99 rebounds, totaled 19 steals, and blocked 10 shots. Posted a 10-rebound game at Wake Forest on January 28 and scored a season-high seven points against Miami on January 14.
Prior to enrolling at NC State, Gantt spent two seasons at Providence. Gantt played in 53 games during his time with the Friars. He scored 173 points, grabbed 143 rebounds, and dished out 52 assists. Following his freshman campaign, he earned the team's Most Promising Prospect Award.
Before attending Providence, Gantt starred at Trinity Christian High School in Fayetteville, N.C. As a senior, Gantt averaged 14.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. He was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN.com and 24/7 Sports. Gantt was ranked as the 66th best player in the nation by ESPN.com and 62nd by 24/7 Sports coming out of high school. Furthermore, he was named the valedictorian of his senior class.
