Clay Edmondson Named Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – The Big South Conference announced on Monday that UNC Asheville's Clay Edmondson has been named the Conference's Starting Pitcher of the Week for games played between March 20-26. Edmondson is the third Bulldog to earn a weekly award from the Big South this season joining Ryan Douglas (Starting Pitcher of the Week – March 6) and Dylan Bacot (Player of the Week – March 6).
Edmondson turned in the best start of the week for the Bulldogs. The Greensboro native tossed seven shutout innings against Longwood on Friday. Edmondson worked around four hits and one walk in his start to go with six strikeouts. The sophomore righthander also got better as the game wore on as his final three innings were three up, three down frames. For his efforts, Edmdondson was awarded the victory and improved to 5-1 on the season. Edmondson's five wins are tied for the second-most in Division I baseball this season.
Edmondson and the rest of the Bulldogs will hit the road to take on No. 10 Tennessee on Tuesday. First pitch between the Bulldogs and Volunteers is set for 4:30 p.m. on SEC Network Plus.
