Last Time Out - Asheville's last meet took place at the Big South Indoor Championships in Blacksburg, V.A. last month. Asheville had a strong showing at conference, with the men finishing fourth and the women finishing fifth following numerous All-Conference performances and school record breaking finishes.

Indoor Award Winners - The UNC Asheville track & field teams had one of their most productive Championship meets in program history, with four Bulldogs earning conference championships, three broken school records, and both the men's and women's squads finished among the top five in the team standings.

The four conference championships by the Bulldogs are their most ever at the Conference's Indoor Meet. The four conference titles came from Claudia Prieto (Long Jump), Zac Weas (60-meter hurdles), Solomon McDonald (shot put), and Adam Hessler (5000-meter run).

Furthermore, Prieto was the women's team All-Academic Team honoree as well as the Conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the third time. Nathaniel Edwards also received recognition for his academics as he was the All-Academic honoree from the men's team.

Hessler had a particularly special indoor championship, setting two Asheville program records in the 5000-meter run (14:31.18)  and the 3000-meter run (8:22.15), and now holds the distance records in the one mile, Indoor 5000-meter, 10,000-meter, Indoor 3000-meter, and runner-up in the outdoor 5000-meter.

The 4x400 relay team of Anthony Mason, Isaac Teasley, Bryson Riddick, and Jalen Anderson also had a record setting pace (3:15.27), breaking the Asheville record in this event and placing second at the championships.

Outdoor Coaches Poll - Entering the Outdoor season, Asheville received votes from Big South track and field coaches to finish similarly to the outcome of the indoor championships. The men's squad predicted to finish fourth in the conference and the women's group to finish tied for fifth place in the pre-season poll.
