Baseball Releases its 2024 Schedule

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Coming off its most successful season in program history, the UNC Asheville baseball team released its 2024 schedule on Friday (Dec. 29) and will return to the diamond on Feb. 16.
"We are thrilled with the 54 opportunities available to us in 2024," Head Coach Scott Friedholm said. "We wanted to challenge ourselves early in the year to prepare for the gauntlet of the Big South Conference schedule. Our goal is to have a consistent approach for every game this year."
BULLDOGS OPEN WITH POWER FIVE OPPONENTS
The Bulldogs' 54-game schedule features 32 games at Greenwood Field. Asheville kicks off its season with back-to-back matchups with SEC opponents, as the Bulldogs travel to Athens to face the University of Georgia, Feb. 16-18, before traveling to the University of Tennessee on Feb. 20 for a midweek matchup. Asheville's first home series will be Feb. 23-25 as they host Bellarmine.
BULLDOGS' HEAVY HOME MARCH SCHEDULE
Asheville closes February with a midweek matchup at Western Carolina (Feb. 27) and opens the month of March with seven straight home games. The Bulldogs host Siena (Mar. 2-3), Queens (Mar. 5), and Niagra (Mar. 8-10).
The Bulldogs only have four road games in March, as they travel to Liberty on March 12 before returning home for eight games. The Bulldogs will host VMI (Mar. 15-17) and Western Carolina (Mar. 19) before opening Big South Conference play Mar. 22-24, as they host Charleston Southern. The Bulldogs' final home game in March will be against App State on March 26. Asheville closes the month by traveling to USC Upstate for the Ingles I-26 Rivalry March 28-30.
BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE ACTION
The Bulldogs have three midweek matchups in April and four weekends of Big South Conference play. The Bulldogs will host ETSU on Apr. 2, travel to App State on Apr. 9, and host Wofford on Apr. 23.
Asheville hosts High Point Apr. 5-7, travels to Radford Apr. 12-14, hosts Winthrop Apr. 19-21, and goes to Longwood Apr. 26-28.
FINAL STRETCH
Asheville will take a break from conference action by hosting Western Kentucky May 3-5 and traveling to ETSU on May 8. The Bulldogs' final home series of the season will be against Gardner-Webb May 10-12.
Asheville closes its regular season with four road games, as they first travel to Charlotte on May 14 before going to Presbyterian May 16-18.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the top four teams in the Big South standings will advance to the Big South Baseball Tournament on May 23-25 in High Point, N.C., at Truist Park.
