LaImani Simmons Named Big South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week

FULL BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE RELEASE
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville junior guard LaImani Simmons has been named the Big South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league today (Wednesday, Dec. 27).
Asheville went 1-1 last week, with a 65-63 loss to North Carolina Central on Dec. 18 and a thrilling 72-71 win over UNC Greensboro on Dec. 21.
Simmons shot 8-15 (.533) against North Carolina Central with one three-pointer for 17 points, three rebounds and one assist. Against UNC Greensboro, Simmons shot .625 (5-8) with two triples for a final line of 15 points and two assists.
This is Simmons's first career Player of the Week honor. The Greenville, S.C. native is a business major.
Asheville returns to the floor on Friday (Dec. 29) to host Brevard in its last non-conference game of the season. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. from Kimmel Arena, with video, live stats and audio available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
