Ona Elkins Earns College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. - UNC Asheville senior setter Ona Elkins has earned Academic All-District® honors from College Sports Communicators for the second straight year, announced by the organization today (Tuesday, Dec. 12).
Elkins wrapped up her senior season in Asheville playing and starting in 27 matches and totaling 85 sets. For her senior season she totaled 375 assists, 160 digs, 13 kills, 20 service aces, three solo blocks and one block assist. Off the court, she was named to the Big South Conference All-Academic Team for the second straight year and also named the Big South Conference Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, being the first Bulldog to earn Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors since Grace Volk in 2021. She received the UNC Asheville Talent Award Scholarship, is a McRae Scholar, and has been named to the Chancellor's List. Elkins is also a SAAC Representative, political science club president, treasurer, and a member of the Political Science Honor Society and the XAE National Athletic Honor Society.
This is Elkins's second career Academic All-District honor. The Asheville, N.C. native holds a 4.00 grade point average with a double major in Interdisciplinary Studies and Political Science.
