CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Two program records fell for UNC Asheville Women's Swimming on day two of the Fall Frenzy Invitational (Saturday, Nov. 18). In addition to the new records, Asheville posted nine lifetime-best times and eight season-best times.
 
Alessia Cunegatti set a new freshman record in the finals of the 400-yard IM (4:24.71), while Caroline Crouse set a new school record in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:47.95, her second program record in as many days.
 
Asheville notched 25 season-best times and five lifetime-best times through the preliminary heats in the morning.
 
Taylor Smith (56.02 seconds), Riley Edmundson (56.22 seconds) and Chloe McDonald (57.60 seconds) finished fifth, sixth and seventh respectively in the 100-yard butterfly, each registering a season-best time and qualifying for the A final. Addison Wright logged a season-best 59.48 seconds in the event, while Alexis Walker clocked a season-best 1:00.44. Jane Brierley posted a season-best 1:00.86 in the event, while Rachel Daly logged a season-best 1:01.64. Alessia Cunegatti posted a season-best 4:26.06 in the 400-yard IM, qualifying for the A final while Anna Kate Halligan qualified for the B final with a season-best 4:31.48. Julie Lahiff (4:35.58), Rose Sciaudone (4:36.11) and Tess Peny (4:38.38) all logged season-best times in the event and qualified for the C final. Gaby Shenot also recorded a season-best in the event, with a time of 4:38.91. Caroline Crouse posted a lifetime-best 1:49.23 in the 200-yard freestyle, qualifying for the A final with a second-place finish. Anna Marcotti also qualified for the A final in the event, finishing seventh with a season-best time of 1:50.81. Caitlin Hefner qualified for the C final in the event with a season-best time of 1:52.53, while Danai Gkogkosi also logged a spot in the C final with a season-best 1:53.40. Ava Kilpatrick also posted a time of 1:59.14 in the event. Abby Parks qualified for the A final in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing seventh with a season-best time of 1:03.77. Smith (1:04.09), Beatrice Cocconcelli (1:04.42) and Miriam Wheatley (1:05.22) all logged lifetime-best marks in the event and qualified for the B final, while Cox (1:05.72) and Brierley (1:06.17) each registered season-best times and qualified for the C final. Olivia Ciancimino logged a lifetime-best 1:06.59, while Walker also posted a season-best 1:11.63 in the event. Grace Adams qualified for the A final of the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best 55.80 seconds to finish fifth, while Gkogkosi (58.50 seconds) and Amelia Presley (58.55 seconds) each registered season-bests to qualify for the C final. Wright (1:01.21) and Daly (1:01.88) each also registered season-best times in the event.
Asheville posted a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay final, with the quartet of Adams, Smith, Marcotti and Parks finishing in 1:43.65. Cunegatti, Cox, McDonald and Ciancimino also teamed up for a time of 1:46.87 in the event. Smith swam to a fifth-place finish in the finals of the 100-yard butterfly in 55.57 seconds, while McDonald finished just behind her in sixth in 55.97 seconds. Edmondson also finished eighth in the event in 56.58 seconds. Cunegatti's freshman record in the 400 IM (4:24.71) led her to a seventh-place finish in the event, while Halligan finished 12th in 4:28.18. Lahiff (4:31.78) and Sciaudone (4:33.24) finished back-to-back in the event, while Peny also recorded a time of 4:37.41. Crouse's record 1:47.95 in the 200-yard freestyle helped her earn the win, while Marcotti finished eighth in the event in 1:52.76. Gkogkosi also registered a time of 1:52.98 in the event, along with Hefner's time of 1:53.05. Parks finished eighth in the 100-yard breastroke final in 1:04.52, while Cocconcelli (1:04.05) and Smith (1:04.08) finished ninth and 10th respectively in the event. Wheatley also recorded a time of 1:05.31 in the event, while Cox posted a time of 1:05.33 and Brierley registered a time of 1:05.85. Adams posted an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in 56.01 seconds, while Gkogkosi also registered a time of 57.67 seconds in the event and Presley posted a time of 58.73 seconds. Asheville posted an eighth-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay, with the team of Crouse, Gkogkosi, Hefner and Marcotti recording a time of 7:32.16. The quartet of Wheatley, Cocconcelli, Cunegatti and Adams also registered a time of 7:38.00.
 
"We had an awesome Saturday in the pool, prelims and finals," said head coach Elizabeth Lykins. "The team stepped up and raced in all events. We've moved up in the team standings and earned two additional records in the 400 IM freshman record and 200 free school record. One more day of racing and we're looking forward to finishing strong!"
 
"I'm really proud of the team for supporting everyone!" said Cunegatti. "Their loud cheering pushed me to break the record, and a I had a really fun time with everyone, especially our team mascot Kevin, that I saw being held above me throughout my race."
