Men's Soccer Drops Non-Conference Contest to Furman Tuesday Night

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer dropped its non-conference contest to visiting Furman Tuesday night (Oct. 24) at Greenwood Field by a score of 4-2.
Stewart Patnaud got the scoring started for Asheville in the 11th minute, scoring his second of the season off assists from Sam Pitts-Eckersall and Myles Edmondson. The Bulldogs would hold their strong defensive posture for most of the first half, before Furman would score late to send the match to the break tied 1-1. Charlie Boone would net his first of the season off an assist from Lloyd Wamu Snell in the 43rd minute as the match went to the half tied.
Furman would notch three goals in the second half to pull away in the match. Snell would score his second of the season in the 60th minute off transition assists from Dylan Lane and winning goalkeeper Cameron Maung-Maung, before Christian Krause made it 3-1 in the 68th minute off an assist from Lane. Tommy Redhead would score his first of the season in the 76th minute for Furman's final goal of the night, before Aidan Whitlock scored his first of the season off a free kick in the 88th minute to bring the match to its final score.
Asheville totaled 14 shots in the match, including five on frame. Asheville also totaled seven corner kicks in the contest. Patnaud and Conor Behan each had a team-high four shots in the match, while Pitts-Eckersall had two. Whitlock, Aysa Hamid, Edvin Grolimund and Seth Hammond each had one shot in the match for Asheville. Ian McGill (0-1-0) matched his career-high with eight saves between the pipes.
