UNC Asheville Athletics Announces New Partnership with Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ

ASHEVILLE, N.C. –  As UNC Asheville Athletics turns the page to 2023, the Bulldogs welcome Bear's Smokehouse BBQ as a new corporate partner.
 
Bear's Smokehouse BBQ has quickly become a local favorite in Asheville's South Slope since opening in 2020. Known for their BBQ and their selection of local craft beers, Bear's Smokehouse is open seven days a week with daily specials and both dine-in and delivery options. In addition to their South Slope location, Bear's also has a site located inside Sweeten Creek Brewing where visitors can enjoy their legendary BBQ.
 
"We are very excited to have Bear's Smokehouse BBQ as a new sponsor of Bulldog Athletics," stated Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone. "Partnerships such as these are vital to us continuing to provide the best possible experience for our student-athletes. We highly encourage all our Bulldog faculty, staff, students, and friends to pay them a visit, thank them for their support, and enjoy some delicious BBQ at the same time!"
 
As part of its corporate partnership, Bear's Smokehouse BBQ will become a mainstay for UNC Asheville Athletic events and gatherings. The first of these events will be taking place this Saturday, January 21st at 4:30 PM following the conclusion of the home men's game against USC Upstate. The postgame social will feature Head Coach Mike Morrell, Athletic Director Janet R. Cone, and a couple of student-athletes.
 
"Bear's Smokehouse is excited to partner with UNC Asheville as the Official BBQ of the Bulldogs", added Bear's Restaurant Group Owner Cheryl Antoncic. "This is a great way for us to become more actively engaged with our community and simultaneously support the student-athletes at UNC Asheville. We look forward to being involved with on-campus events and also hosting events for fans and students at our locations that promote the Bulldog spirit."
