Taylor Gardner named the Big South Offensive Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday that UNC Asheville women's soccer player Taylor Gardner had been named the League's Offensive Player of the Week.

Gardner has played a key role in Asheville's undefeated 1-0-1 start to this season. Overall, Gardner scored two goals and added two assists in matches at Wofford and against VMI. Gardner netted Asheville's first goal in each contest and posted a four-point performance (one goal, two assists) in Sunday's 4-1 victory over VMI. Thanks to these performances, Gardner continues her stellar goal-scoring streak from last season as she has now scored at least one goal in five of her last six matches.

Monday's honor marks the second weekly honor of Gardner's career as she was tabbed the Conference's Freshman of the Week on October 18, 2021. Furthermore, Gardner is the first Bulldog to capture an Offensive/Attacking Player of the Week award from the Big South since 2017 when Courtney Naber received the honor back-to-back weeks on August 21 and 28.

Gardner and the rest of the Bulldogs will be back in action Thursday when they visit The Citadel for a non-conference contest. Kickoff for the match is set for 4 p.m. on ESPN+.
