2022 BAA Golf Classic finishes up day one on Monday

ASHEVILLE, N.C.
– Supporters of UNC Asheville Athletics gathered at the Country Club of Asheville on Monday for the first day of the annual Bulldog Athletic Association (BAA) Scholarship Golf Classic. Overall, 88 golfers and 22 foursomes took to the course on Monday to raise scholarship money for the UNC Asheville Athletics Annual Scholarship Fund.
 
"What a great first day of our annual golf tournament," said Assistant Director of Athletic Advancement and Gameday Operations Cassidy Harbison. "Thank you to everyone who helped kickoff this year's event and helped it run smoothly. A special thank you to our sponsors and to all the companies and individuals that play each year in this event."
 
The foursomes were split into two flights on Monday. In the first flight, the gross champions were the team of Bessey, Durham, Werenski, and Robb (-17). First place net went to the team of Bradley, Owle, Owle, and Owle (-20). Second place net was won by the team of Behdel, Murphy, Biedenbach, and Pierce (-17). 

In flight two, the gross champions were the team Gibson, Lambert, Robinson, and Roland (-8). First place net was won by the team of Radford, Dalton, Dalton, and Goforth (-19). Second place net was won by Davis, Morse, Staicar, and Wilson (-18). All tiebreakers were broken by the USGA rules.
 
The straightest drive of the day came from Tracy Radford on the fourth hole. Closest to the pin prizes were awarded to the following: #3 - Andrew Kirchmeyer, #6 - Jim Owle, #13 - John Pierce, and #17 - Lawrence Percival. 
 
The BAA Scholarship Golf Classic will resume Tuesday morning from the Country Club of Asheville.
