Bulldog student-athletes celebrate 2022 graduation

ASHEVILLE, N.C.  – A new group of Bulldogs are now considered alumni, as UNC Asheville held its spring commencement on Saturday, with over 50 student-athletes receiving their diplomas and representing the 2022 graduating class.
Our student-athletes gathered early in the morning to get their pictures taken by the Bulldog statue in front of the Justice Center, then headed to the quad where the ceremony took place. While the weather was partly cloudy, the rain steered clear as the graduates celebrated the day with family, friends, coaches and athletics staff who were on hand for the event.
Many of our student-athletes shined bright on and off the field of competition throughout their times at Asheville, perhaps none brighter than Volleyball's Grace Volk, who was awarded the Manly E. Wright Award as the top graduate in the 2022 class. Volk, who spoke at the event, is the first student-athlete to win the award since Blanton Gillespie (Track, Cross Country) claimed the honor in 2019.
Additionally, in the weeks leading up to graduation, we were able to catch up with some of the seniors who recounted their respective times at UNC Asheville. Lastly, to view the photo gallery of Commencement Day, click here.
