Track & Field readies for the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville track & field teams will compete in the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 9-11. The Championships will take place at Vert Stadium on the campus of High Point University.

Last Time Out – Asheville's last meet was back on April 23-24 at the Georgia Tech Invitational. During its stay in Atlanta, the Bulldogs broke a pair of school records, won one event and logged several new personal and season-best marks in a variety of events.

Championship Rewind– In a flashback to the 2021 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the Bulldogs posted their best finishes in recent memory. The fourth-place finish by the men's team is its best since 2000, while the women's team placing fifth marked its best placing at the league's showcase outdoor meet since 2013.

All-Big South Honors – There a multiple Bulldogs that have earned All-Big South honors in their careers by finishing in the top three in their given events at the Outdoor Championships. Among this group include: Claudia Prieto (Long & Triple Jumps), Maya Stanley (Discus), Solomon McDonald (Shot Put), Zac Weas (110m hurdles), and Anthony Mason (400m dash).
