Volleyball adds Cincinnati transfer Bahar Kurtulus to recruiting class

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Head Volleyball Coach Frederico Santos announced Tuesday the addition of Bahar Kurtulus to his team's recruiting class. Kurtulus joins Pelin Aksoy and Makenzi Searcy as the newest Bulldogs that will suit up for the Bulldogs in the fall.  

Bahar Kurtulus – Outside Hitter – 5-11– Ankara, Turkey
  • Made the Turkish Championship and the European Youth Olympic Festival National Team Camp
  • Also made the Turkish Championship semi-finals two years
  • Played for TED Ankara College Sports Club finishing seventh in 2020 and 2019 and sixth in 2018
  • Member of the U17 Balkan National Team Camp
  • Also competed in track and field, specifically in shotput
"Bahar is a transfer from the University of Cincinnati," Santos said of Kurtulus. "She is a very experienced player that will help elevate our program but also provide steady leadership.  A true student of the game and a tireless worker. We are so excited to have her with us this fall."
