Track & Field wraps up day one of Montreat Invitational on Friday

Day One Results
BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. – The UNC Asheville track & field teams finished up day one of the Montreat Invitational on Friday. After one day of action, the Bulldogs logged four podium finishes, tallied two first-place performances, and ranked second on the combined team standings list.
The two event wins for the Bulldogs came courtesy of the women's team on Friday. Clara Wincheski paced the field in the 5000-meter run, clocking in at 18:16.46. Claudia Prieto topped her event, which was the long jump, with a leap of 5.91-meters.
The other two podium finishes for Asheville on Friday came in the javelin throw. Brianna Moore finished second with a toss of 36.82-meters, which set a new personal-best mark for the event. Maya Stanley was not too far off the pace with a throw of 32.80-meters.
A couple of other standout performances for the Bulldogs came in the hammer throw. The duo of Noela Moraga (42.32-meters) and Solomon McDonald (46.86-meters) finished in fourth in their respective competitions, and both rank among the top-five best in the program's outdoor history books.
Day two of the Montreat Invitational will take place on Saturday. The first event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Live results and video links can be found HERE.
