Drew Pember Named Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced on Monday that UNC Asheville's Drew Pember was named the Conference's Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played between December 12-18. It marks the fifth time that Pember has been named the Big South Player of the Week in his time as a Bulldog.
Pember stuffed the stat sheet last week to help Asheville post a perfect 2-0 record in a pair of road games at South Carolina State (94-84) and ETSU (74-73) last week. Pember scored 29 points, grabbed 30 rebounds, totaled seven assists and blocked nine shots in those two games. Pember scored 16 points and grabbed 18 rebounds at South Carolina State on Tuesday. His 18 rebounds were the most in a game by a Bulldog since 2016. On Saturday at ETSU, Pember logged another double-double (13 points, 12 rebounds) and hit the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to give Asheville the 74-73 victory.Â

Pember and the rest of the Bulldogs will be back in action on Wednesday when they visit nationally-ranked Arkansas in their final non-conference game of the season.
