Jim Nantz to be featured guest on January edition of “Noontime with the Bulldogs"

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville athletics department announced CBS Sports and Emmy-Awarding winning broadcaster Jim Nantz as its featured guest on the upcoming January 25 edition of the "Noontime with the Bulldogs" webinar series sponsored by Mako Medical.
One of the most recognizable faces and voices across sports, Nantz has been the lead play-by-play voice for The NFL on CBS since 2004, has covered the last 36 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball seasons and continues to anchor CBS's golf coverage – most notably as the lead broadcaster for the Masters (since 1988) and the PGA Championship (since 1991).
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Nantz attended the University of Houston where he held various broadcasting jobs, including play-by-play for the Utah Jazz in 1984. In 1985, Nantz started with CBS, hosting the college football studio show until serving as the lead play-by-play college football announcer starting in 1989, serving as the network's lead voice in 1996 and calling the 1996 and 1997 National Championship games. In the 90s, Nantz also began his NFL coverage, working his way up to his current role as lead play-by-play announcer.
In 2007, Nantz completed what is considered the "broadcasting three-feat," calling the Super Bowl, NCAA Men's Final Four and Masters all in the same year. Nantz would one-up that accomplishment in 2019 and 2021, broadcasting the AFC Championship, Super Bowl, Final Four, Masters and PGA Championship.
Nantz has collected some prestigious awards over the years, including: the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's Curt Gowdy Media Award (2002), Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality (2009 and 2010), Pro Football Hall of Fame Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award (2011), Golf Course Association's Distinguished Service Award (2013) and a Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame induction in 2018, among others.
