ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's basketball team held its first official practice of the fall semester Tuesday afternoon.
Asheville, which finished the 2020-21 season with a record of 10-15 overall and 9-10 in Big South action, will be led by Head Coach Honey Brown as she enters her second season in charge of the program. Brown will return much of her team from last season, including All-Big South performers Nadiria Evans and Kai Carter. In addition to Evans and Carter, Asheville brings back six other players that saw action with the Bulldogs last season to mix in with six newcomers.
"Everything still feels pretty new because unlike last year we got to work during the summer and had a more normal preseason," said Brown. "It's been awesome. We're grateful and thankful for the opportunity to be out here preparing for another season."
The 2021-22 season will get underway for the Bulldogs on November 9 when they visit UNC Greensboro. Asheville will also pay a visit to mountain rival Western Carolina on November 12 before opening its home schedule on November 15 against Mars Hill. A reminder that basketball season tickets are on sale now. If you can't make it to a game, all home and road conference matchups can be seen on ESPN+, with weekday home games beginning at 6:30 p.m. and weekend games will start 2:00 p.m.
