Men's Tennis caps off strong day one of Elon Invitational

ELON, N.C – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team concluded day one of the Elon Invitational with a strong start.
In singles play, five out of six Bulldogs emerged out of the first round with victories. Jon Brann Reid advanced in the Maroon Bracket winning 6-4, 6-2, Leo Bierbaum in the Gold Bracket 7-6, 7-6, Quinn Fender 6-2, 7-6 in the Powell Bracket, Sirawit Daosaengsawang also in the Powell Bracket 3-0 after his opponent retired, and Bruno Serra with a 6-2, 6-4 win in the White Bracket.
In doubles action, the duo of Quinn Fender and Harry Thursfield won their first match in the Maroon Bracket 6-4 before falling in the second round. The Serra twins advanced to the championship of the Powell Bracket, getting a first a first-round bye, followed by two 6-2 victories.
Saturday's Schedule
The second round of singles play kicks off at 9:00 a.m. with Daosaengsawang and Fender first to play, followed by doubles action starting in the afternoon.
