UNC Asheville Athletics hosts annual BAF Scholarship Golf Classic

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Athletics hosted day one of its annual Bulldog Athletic Fund Scholarship (BAF) Golf Classic at the Country Club of Asheville on Monday. Overall, 96 golfers and 24 foursomes competed to raise scholarship money for UNC Asheville student-athletes.
"We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day for golf," said Special Assistant to the Director of Athletics Betsy Blose. "Thank you to everyone who played a part in making today run so smoothly. Thank you to our sponsors and to all the companies and individuals that participate each year in this event."
Due to USGA tie breaking rules, the foursome of Keith Black, Garza Baldwin, Ken Hughes and Gordon Jones (Biltmore Forest) placed first with a total gross score of 54 in flight one. In flight two, the First Citizens Bank group of Chad Whittemore, Keith DiYeso, Eric Crews and David Goldstein claimed first place in the flight with a net score of 23-under par.
Day one featured a hole in one by Tagan Crowe who aced hole No. 3. Chad Donnahoo Garrett Green and Zeke Cooper all claimed closest to the pin prizes on the par 3's, while Noah Ratner won the straightest drive award.
The Bulldog Athletics Fund would like to thank the Country Club of Asheville for partnering with UNC Asheville Athletics to host the annual event. Additionally, the Bulldogs would like to thank: Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Pepsi, Canteen, Highland Brewing, Budweiser and BMW for sponsoring the tournament.
Round two of the BAF Scholarship Golf Classic will commence Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
