2021 FALL VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Head Volleyball Coach Frederico Santos released his program's 2021 fall schedule on Friday. The 26-match slate, which includes eight tilts at the Justice Center, is scheduled to get underway on August 27.

"We are thrilled to be back on the court and are feeling very optimistic about the season ahead," Santos said. "We are very proud of the hard work our girls are putting into our practices in preparation to play. They are ALL in for Asheville!"

Asheville kick starts its season with 10 consecutive non-conference matches on four different weekends. The Bulldogs will open their fall 2021 campaign on August 27 vs. mountain rival Western Carolina in the opening match of the Wildcat Classic in Davidson, N.C. On the following day, Asheville tangles with host Davidson at noon and then closes out its first weekend of matches with a contest vs. North Carolina Central.

The following weekend on September 3-4 the Bulldogs will travel to the state of Tennessee for the first time since 2018 when it takes part in the Golden Eagle Invitational at Tennessee Tech. The first day at the Invitational will see Asheville take on Valparaiso (2 p.m.) and South Alabama (6 p.m.) before returning Saturday to face off against the host Golden Eagles at 3 p.m.

The next two weekends will see the Bulldogs play two matches at Elon (Sept. 10-11) and Clemson (Sept. 17). During their trip to Elon, the Bulldogs will face the Phoenix Friday evening at 6 p.m. and then will take on North Carolina Central for the second time on Saturday. As for its trip to Clemson, Asheville will take on the host Tigers at noon before wrapping up its trip by taking on East Tennessee State in a neutral-site affair.

After a competitive non-league schedule, the Bulldogs will turn their attention to Big South play starting on September 24 when they welcome league newcomer North Carolina A&T to the Justice Center. The following day will see the defending conference champion High Point visit the High Country.

Asheville will also play host to Gardner-Webb (Oct. 8), Winthrop (Oct. 9), Charleston Southern (Oct. 22), Presbyterian (Oct. 23), Hampton (Nov. 5), and Campbell (Nov. 6) this fall. Throughout the 2021 fall season, Friday matches will begin at 6 p.m. and Saturday contests will start at 2 p.m. Admission to all of the Bulldogs' home matches will be free this season.

In addition to its home matches, the Bulldogs will also make trips to Campbell (Oct. 1), Hampton (Oct. 2), USC Upstate (Oct. 12), Radford (Oct. 16), Winthrop (Oct. 29), Gardner-Webb (Oct. 30), High Point (Nov. 12), and North Carolina A&T during the Big South portion of its schedule. Asheville will aim to make it five straight seasons in finishing its league schedule with a .500 record or better.

If the Bulldogs place in the top six in the Big South standings, they will be invited to compete in the 2021 Big South Volleyball Tournament. This season's tournament will take place on November 19-21 on the campus of Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C., with the winner receiving an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
