Women’s Basketball Signs Jordaynia Ivie

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Head Women's Basketball Coach Honey Brown announced the signing of Jordaynia 'Nia' Ivie (Bean Station, Tenn.) on Wednesday. Ivie joins three other signees, who committed to the Bulldogs last November, as a part of Coach Brown's first recruiting class as head coach.
"We are very excited Nia is a Bulldog," Brown said of her newest recruit. "She is a player that brings a ton of versatility to our team as a strong guard. Nia plays the game with such joy that her teammates will really enjoy playing with her. I am excited about her ability to play great defense, rebound and score in multiple ways. Our Bulldog family can't wait for her to join us!"

- In 2020-21, Ivie averaged 15.5 points, 4.1 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.7 steals per game.
- Has received several accolades during her high school career, including being named Region MVP, District MVP. As a senior, was named the TSSAA Miss Basketball at Division IIA level. Furthermore, she has been a McDonald's All-American nominee and named to Tennessee's DIIA All-State Team as a junior.
- Proposed chemistry major at UNC Asheville.
Why UNC Asheville: "I believe the opportunity here at UNC Asheville will give me the best opportunity to grow both academically and in basketball," said Ivie. "I also think it will be the best place for me to help prepare me for the rest of my life. I consider myself blessed to begin the next steps of my journey in life as a UNC Asheville Bulldog. I am excited to play for Coach Brown and experience all that God has planned for me at Asheville."
