UNC Asheville announces Bulldog Athletics Fund

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - In an effort to continue the tremendous momentum in donor support built over the last three years and to enhance financial support for UNC Asheville's athletics programs, Bulldog Athletics and the University's Advancement Office is pleased to announce the launch of the Bulldog Athletics Fund. The new fund replaces the Bulldog Athletic Association and serves as the fundraising arm for all gifts to athletics, with continued goals of providing scholarships to our high caliber student-athletes, recruiting and retaining respected and principled coaches, and enhancing our athletic facilities.
"The Bulldog Athletics Fund recognizes the tremendous growth in charitable giving that we have seen over the past three years," said Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone. "As we look to the future and continue to serve our university community, our Bulldogs increasingly rely on the generosity of our loyal donors who invest in – and impact – the lives of our student-athletes."
Funding student-athlete scholarships will continue to be the top priority for UNC Asheville Athletics. In addition, the new Bulldog Athletics Fund will allow donors to support the operating fund for individual sport programs. This operational support is imperative to allow our Bulldog athletic programs to continue to compete despite the financial challenges of our current time. Gifts to the Bulldog Athletics Fund, whether to athletic scholarships or individual sport programs, will be eligible for donor benefits based on existing giving levels.
"This new program provides more choice for our donors and provides greater impact opportunities that better position the department for future growth and success," continued Cone. "We continue to strive to provide the best student-athlete experience possible for our 270 student-athletes on the field, in the classroom, and in our community."

Donors providing gifts over $100 to UNC Asheville Athletics will become members of the Bulldog Athletics Fund. Based on their cumulative level of giving to the Bulldog Athletics Fund, donors will also enjoy benefits including invitations to athletic department events, basketball parking and hospitality, and most importantly the opportunity to positively impact a Bulldog student-athlete.
