Pember named Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Big South Conference announced its men's basketball weekly awards on Monday, with UNC Asheville's Drew Pember garnering Big South Player of the Week honors after averaging a double-double for the Bulldogs.Â
Against the SoCon-favorite Chattanooga, Pember scored a career-high 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field adding seven rebounds and two blocks. The Tennessee transfer had an even better performance in a win at Western Carolina Saturday, scoring 19 points and grabbing a career-high 13 rebounds - knocking down two key free throws late to help seal the game. Pember was a force defensively against the Catamounts, swatting five shots to give him 37 on the season and help lift Asheville to its first win in Cullowhee since 2007.
A junior, Pember ranks fifth in the nation in total blocks and fifth in blocks per game (3.7) - leading the conference in both categories.
