BIG SOUTH RELEASE

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday that UNC Asheville's Nadiria Evans was named the Co-Big South Player of the Week for the games played November 9-15. It marks the third time in her career that Evans has earned Player of the Week honors from the conference.

"I'm so happy for Nadiria," said Head Coach Honey Brown. "Her teammates have done a great job finding her, and she is making great plays for us!"

Evans had a stellar opening week as she led the Bulldogs in multiple statistical categories. Evans scored 45 points in two games with 10 rebounds, nine assists, and four steals. After a 14-point effort in the season-opener at UNC Greensboro, Evans exploded with a 31-point performance on a 13-for-25 effort from the field to lead the Bulldogs to an exciting 74-72 overtime win over Western Carolina. After the season's first week, Evans leads the Big South in scoring average (22.5 PPG) and ranks among the top 10 in the league in total rebounds, assists, and steals.

With her 45 points in the season's opening week, Evans has moved into sole possession of seventh place on UNC Asheville's all-time scoring list. During her time as a Bulldog, Evans has netted 1,330 points.

Evans and the rest of the Bulldogs will be in action in a couple of hours when they host Mars Hill in the team's home opener at Kimmel Arena. Tip-off for that contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
