Taylor Gardner named Big South Freshman of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday that Taylor Gardner of the UNC Asheville women's soccer team was named the league's Freshman of the Week for matches played between October 11-17. Gardner is the first Bulldog to earn a weekly honor from the Big South since September 10, 2018, when Courtney O'Malley was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Gardner netted her team-leading fourth goal of the season in Saturday's 3-2 victory over Presbyterian. Gardner, who played 54 minutes against PC, matched her career-high with three shots on goal in the contest. Furthermore, Gardner's goal proved to be the game-winner, the second of her young career, with the first coming on September 29 vs. USC Upstate.Â
On Wednesday, Gardner and the rest of the Bulldogs will be back in action when they visit Winthrop for a key Big South matchup. The kickoff between Asheville and Winthrop is set for 6 p.m.
