BIG SOUTH ANNOUNCEMENT
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced its Preseason Volleyball Poll Tuesday afternoon, and UNC Asheville was selected to finish sixth with 32 points.
It marks the second time in the last four seasons that Asheville has been tabbed for a sixth-place finish in the preseason poll. The 2019 Bulldogs finished 13-13 overall and went 7-7 against Big South foes, which extends a streak of five consecutive seasons that the program has won 12 matches or more.
During this unique spring season, Asheville will be returning several familiar faces but will have to find a way to replicate production from two 2019 All-Big South performers, Julia Borges (First Team) and Ansley Rooks (Honorable Mention). Two players to watch for Asheville are the tandem of Molly Hackett and Cecilia Stack. Hackett is the team's top returning attacker finishing with 202 kills, while Stack tallied 130 kills herself and finished second on the squad in blocks (60) in 2019.
Asheville is scheduled to get its season started on February 4-5 when it travels to Charleston Southern for a pair of matches. The entire volleyball schedule can be found HERE. All matches are subject to date/time changes, so stay tuned to uncabulldogs.com to see the Bulldogs' most up-to-date schedule.
