Former Bulldog Chatori Major Named to Big South’s Women’s Basketball All-Decade Team

CHARLOTTE – The Big South Conference announced today that former UNC Asheville women's basketball student-athlete Chatori Major (2013-2017) was named to the 2010-19 Women's Basketball All-Decade Team presented by Hercules Tires.
Major had a decorated career during her time in a Bulldog uniform as she was not only the 2015-16 Big South Conference Player of the Year, but she was also a two-time All-Big South First Team honoree. Major, one of four players in program history to ever earn First Team All-Conference honors in multiple seasons, played an integral role in the Bulldogs making back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament in 2016 and 2017 and she was 2016 Big South Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player.
The Camp Lejeune, N.C. native ranks 12th on UNC Asheville's all-time scoring list with 1,116 points. Major also owns two of the top five scoring single-season performances for the Bulldogs since the program moved to the Division I level in 1986. She was a leader off the court for the program and was named the Arthur Ashe Jr. Scholar Second Team, the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (ADA) Scholar-Athlete Team and to the Big South All-Academic team during her time with the program.
A 15-person committee of Big South Conference administrators served as the official voting panel to determine the All-Decade Team, with fan voting comprising 20 percent of the overall total. The 2010-19 Women's Basketball All-Decade Team is listed below in alphabetical order and features 12 players and one head coach. In case of ties, additional honorees have been added.

Women's Basketball All-Decade Team candidates were determined based on being at least one of the following: 1) Was a multiple All-Conference honoree; 2) Was named an All-American; 3) Is a member of the Big South Conference Hall of Fame; 4) Student-athletes must be a college graduate or in good academic standing with their respective institution; 5) Won a Conference Championship as a coach and/or was voted Conference Coach of the Year. Candidates that participated in two different decades were placed in a specific decade based on consultation from member institutions. Member institutions also had final determination in regards to the inclusion of student-athletes and coaches. Previous Women's Basketball All-Decade Teams were recognized for the years 1986-89, 1990-99, and 2000-09.
